I heart Riccardo Tisci.

I mean, really. His spring 2010 collection for Givenchy is beyond.
Off the charts.
I am hoping that if he stumbles across this little blog o' mine, he will heart me back, and give me this, as a token of his love and affection.

Sorry for the boobie shot.

A case of the blahs

You may have noticed a lack of "what I wore" posts.
It is because I have become a nudist.
Kidding, kidding.
This winter has been keeping us inside more than normal, hence the lack of needing to look presentable.
These chicks are making me jealous, and inspired to leave the house:

Maybe the kid and I will put on our very best, and head to Costco tomorrow!
Heck, I might even ask them to take a new photo for my membership card.

May I have a word?

Okay tooth fairy. I know typically, you are in the business of taking teeth away, but I have a special request: BRING 'EM ON!!!!!
You see, our dear son is toothless. Thirteen and a half months, and toothless. What's worse, is that the wee lad has been teething since FOUR MONTHS.
Yep, you heard me right, four months. The signs have all been there, yet the evidence is lurking behind some really thick gums.
So, please, if you can, sprinkle your magic fairy dust over Kansas City. Like, right now, because he's napping.
I don't care if he wakes up looking like Steven Tyler.
I just want some teeth.

Merci.

There's still a party. And it's in my tummy.

I think I make this salmon once a week. However, I use fillets. I'm a rebel. Oh, and I use a TON of dijon.

I could eat these brussel sprouts all day long. Follow my bff's recipe, but add toasted pecans, and soaked dried cherries. And use REALLY good sea salt.

Carrots with ginger garlic butter. Need I say more??
Just steam your carrots, and top with garlic and ginger that has been sauteed in a bit of butter.

I also made a banana sticky rice cake, but I wasn't crazy about it. So I ate more brussel sprouts.

There's a party in my tummy, so yummy, so yummy.

Here's what's been happenin' in the kitchen:

Cauliflower Soup from Jewels and Jill Elmore

1 drizzle olive oil
1 onion, diced
1 tbsp butter
1/2 head cauliflower, cut into tiny florets
1 box organic chicken stock
a few pinches of yellow curry powder
a pinch of white pepper, and salt

In a hot pan, drizzle the oil and slightly brown onions. Add the rest and cook until the cauliflower almost falls apart. Done. Easy peasy.

My BFF The Barefoot Contessa's Egg Salad

Recipe found here.

Salmon Patties

2 cans Wild Pink Salmon (do yourself a favor and get the non- cat food, no bones kind)
2-3 celery stalks, diced
1/2 onion, diced
1-2 carrots, chopped
seasoned bread crumbs, about a hand full
1 whole egg and one egg white, beaten
fresh dill and parsley, or if you're lazy, used dried
salt and pepper
olive oil

Mix all of the above together in a large bowl, and form patties. Pan fry in a HOT pan in a bit of olive oil until golden brown. Serve with lemon wedges. Or don't.

Healthy Turkey Tacos:

1 lb. Free Range ground turkey breast
1 can black beans
28 oz. diced tomatoes with juices
cilantro
avocado
salsa
grated cheese( pepper or monterey jack works)
limes

Brown the meat in a bit of olive oil, add the seasoning, then the beans, and tomatoes.
Serve with the cilantro, avocado, cheese, salsa, lime, and whole wheat tortillas.
Wash it all down with a margarita.

Can we discuss?

Baby Michelle Tanner looks ravishing!
Like a pastry!
That lipstick isn't for everyone, but she really pulls it off!

I hope she is watching out for the hand trying to steal her clutch.

Amber alert

I would totally kidnap this child. Oh, I promise to let him call his parents, and I'll return him after he teaches my kid to drum.
Not only is he a flipping genius, he is drumming to System of a Down.
I'm smitten.

Looking for work.

My knees buckled when I saw this.
Givenchy is coming out with it's famous Nightengale bag.
ON WHEELS.

I think I might open an at home day care until I can save up for this.
Add's college fund can wait.
My priorities are in check.

Things that make me go hmmmmm......

I know it looks as if Annie (she only allows myself and Rachel Zoe to call her this) found her dad's coat lying on the ground, but I sort of like this.
It kind of has that modern Annie Hall vibe going on.
I said Annie. Twice.

It's happening....

I'm becoming one of them.
Well, not literally, but I did go to the mall before they were open.
Twice.
It was jam packed with walkers!
They were EVERYWHERE! It's like a cult! And I lost count of the fanny packs.
The local mall has this great area for kids to play, with a merry-go-round, and it's becoming my most favorite place ever.
What's happening to me?
And if my friends Mel and Jules meet us, it's pure bliss.
My, how times have changed.
Maybe we should sneek a flask in or something?

Bedroom Eyes...

These pictures get me salivating.
I don't know what I'm more amped up for, our multi-purpose room re-do, or our master bedroom.
I am equally obsessing about both.

I'm ready for my close up.

Ah, who doesn't love a wedding? And who doesn't love planning a wedding? So much to think about: dresses, colors, location, flowers, cake, who am I going to sit my obnoxious uncle with?

And then there's the hair and makeup.
SO important, right?

As a makeup artist, I get asked tons of questions regarding wedding makeup.
To be honest, doing wedding makeup is my favorite. There's something about adding those finishing touches to a bride's "vision" that is so fun! Makeup can really tie your whole look together.

When thinking about your wedding makeup, tear a bunch of looks out of magazines. Look at red carpet makeup. Keep your dress in mind, the time of day you are getting married, the setting, etc. All of those details matter when deciding makeup.
Ask yourself if you want more focus on your eyes, or if you want to do a bold lip color.

Here are some great photos of wedding makeup that is more eye focused:

Having an afternoon, outdoor wedding? These are some great options:

Evening, elegant, and glamorous with more focus on the lip:

This look STILL makes me weak in the knees!

There are so many things to remember on the day of your wedding, but as far as makeup goes, DON'T wear a sunscreen (or you'll look shiny, in photos), and remember to carry your touch up products with you: blotting papers, pressed powder, lipstick/liner/gloss, and blush.

And eat 2 pieces of cake.

" I never think that people die. They just go to department stores"

This past weekend the mister and I went on a date to see the Warhol exhibit.
It was great to see some of his works up close and personal, even though I'm not a fan of the soup cans.
It made me think of how different things were back then. How somehow, Edie, even though she didn't do much, was authentically cool, and chic-unlike some of the young gals these days that are famous for, well, NOTHING.

Andy had his art. His muse. His films. Did you know he even appeared on an episode of The Love Boat?
He also managed one of my all time FAVORITE bands.

One of his more famous quotes is the one about everyone being famous for fifteen minutes.
I happen to adore this one:
"I love Los Angeles. I love Hollywood. They're beautiful. Everybody's plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic."
