Extreme Makeover

As I've previously mentioned, there are a few rooms left in the house that need to be done.
One being the "multi-purpose" room, and I am beyond ready to tackle it.
It is going to be my closet/office/guest room. Yep, you heard me.
I am going back and forth between making it very white, and clean looking with some fun accents, or similar to a dark, funky boutique (um, with a daybed).
I think I am leaning towards the latter.
I am sort of obsessing about this, and looked through my inspiration file for some more ideas:

Tackling a project like this is never easy, but I am so looking forward to it.
Actually, the taping of and painting all the wood trim-not so much.

I actually have something nice to say....

About Ms. Alba.
I have never been a fan-she just doesn't do it for me.
And she's crabby-every time she would come into Barney's, she was not fun to deal with, and always had a scowl on her face.
Did I just gossip? I think I did.

Anyhoo-she shut it D-O-W-N at the People's choice awards.
I have never seen the gal look this good.
And those shoes?
BEYOND.
Way to go Dark Angel.

So you wanna be a baller?

The little dude spoke.

"Ball" was his first word.
He sounded alot like Demi Moore after a pack of smokes-it was amazing.

The mister and I are a wee bit concerned about this.
Neither of us are the athletic type.
Oh, I played junior miss softball. My mother tells me that I would just stand in the outfield, and look at my nails.
Then there were the occasions where I would actually hit the ball when up to bat, run to first base, and run back to retrieve my helmet that fell off because I had hat hair.
We're basically going to have to start from scratch if he is of the jock world-like I might have to get sports for dummies or something.
Who knows, maybe he'll be the next Larry Bird?
Impressive, right? I said Larry Bird.

There's a party in my tummy, so yummy, so yummy.

I've decided that is going to be my official title for when I talk about food.
Which is pretty much all the time.
Made this tonight, and man, mmmm...mmm...good.
The mister and I were licking the bowls.
Perfect for another flipping freezing night.

I love the blog that I stole this recipe from-she's my favorite-and the best.
HA!

I wanna go back

To California.
Until April.

It is SOOOOO flipping cold here in the KC, I can't take it.
Before you go pointing your finger at me, saying I'm a Chicago girl, I should be used to this, listen up.
This is different.
I would take Chicago in the winter over KC any day.
Yes, I know that living in the city in the winter presents it's own set of troubles.
The question of rescuing your snow covered car, or leaving it there until March is one of them.

Being in a large city, you have options. Like staying in a museum for hours.
I'm talking about a museum that is kid friendly.
I took the boy to the library today. I'm out of ideas for the rest of the week.
And it's Monday.
Thank God for play date's at friend's houses or I would go mad!

I think that the following would help me get through it:

I love Kansas City, I really do.
But NOT when it's 4 flipping degrees.
Does anybody?

Ch ch ch changes.....

I don't get that much excitement over making a huge list of things I want to accomplish at the start of every year.
They usually consist of the same things:
continue French lessons
spend more time with God
spend less time on the computer
eat more cheese -umm, I mean less

This year however, I am really making a huge effort to know my limits.
I tend to say yes to everything. Not necessarily because I feel I have to, but because I want to.
I have pretty much always been this way, but after having the little man, it increased.
I think it's because I don't want to become that woman who loses "herself". Who does everything for others, and forgets to color her hair. Or puts her friends on hold until Addison grows out of "this" phase, or "that"phase.
Don't get me wrong-there's a great deal of good in that. However, when 6 out of 7 nights on your calendar are filled, that is a bit too much.

I am not calling this a "resolution", but more of an awareness.
Kind of like how I am aware of the fact that I own way too many coats, and really don't need to buy another.
But want to.

Oh, this old thang?

Not me sillies, my dress.
I mean shirt.
I am pretty sure that this is a shirt, and I can bet money on the fact that at one point it belonged to a really tan woman who lived in Boca.
I bought this at a vintage store in L.A. It was one of those pieces that you buy knowing that you will not wear it anytime soon, but that it must live in your closet.
She waited patiently for 6 years, tags still on, and made her debut on New Years Eve.

The purse is an original Carlos Falchi from the 70's that I found at a Good Will in Santa Monica.
I paid 2 bucks for it.
That was a good day.
