mmm mmm...good.

It's been a while since I posted a new recipe. Since our little lady came around, we've been sticking to the basics around here: Turkey tacos, mustard salmon, soups, Tilapia, chicken, etc.
The hubs and I don't eat a ton of red meat...maybe once every couple of months or so, but for some strange reason I was craving beef and broccoli (no, I am not preggers again--geesh).

Ordering chinese food is an absolute no no in my book.
We have the WORST track record with getting our order cooked with MSG even when they say they don't use it. How can I tell? Instant pounding headache.
So, I did some recipe hunting around the web and found Emerill's b&b recipe.
I modified it a bit after reading multiple reviews:

Doubled the sauce recipe
I marinated the meat (I used flank steak) in soy (soy vey-the bomb soy sauce), garlic and lime juice in the fridge for a couple of hours.
I did not blanch the broccoli as I thought it would get too mushy-I added it add the end=perfect
Used rice vinegar instead of that fancy black stuff.
Regular honey--again, no fancy pants here.
I also toasted some sesame seeds and sprinkled them on top.
I served this with steamed brown rice--you could also use noodles.

This was so yummy in the tummy.
Next time, I'm going to try adding snap peas and water chestnuts.

But then I'll have to change the name.

I seriously could have written the same post! We rarely eat red meat but I was craving beef (I on the other hand AM pregnant) so I am trying out a recipe tonight for a sesame beef stir fry. Hopefully it will turn out delicious and I'll share the recipe!

That sounds delish!! Will def have to try thst out. and all your other meals (like mustard salmon) sound great, way better than the lame meals we have eaten at our house. Last night was sloppy joes if that gives you an inkling of our unoriginal meals.
